Healthy Cities Reducing Cycling Stress

Dr Afshin Jafari's Prevention Centre-funded project developed a new Level of Traffic Stress (LTS) calculation methodology to improve urban cycling infrastructure. By creating a virtual laboratory for policy makers to test interventions, the project aims to increase cycling uptake by identifying and implementing safe, connected infrastructure. The research has already led to significant international collaborations and will inform future cycling infrastructure planning and policy-making, maximising the health benefits of habitual cycling for city residents.
