Pre-diabetes

Pre-diabetes is a condition where blood sugar levels are higher than normal but not yet high enough to be diagnosed as type 2 diabetes. It is a critical warning sign that the body is beginning to have trouble processing glucose, increasing the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke. Often, pre-diabetes shows no obvious symptoms, making regular screening important, especially for those with risk factors like being overweight, inactive, or having a family history of diabetes. Early intervention through lifestyle changes such as a healthy diet, regular exercise, and weight management can help reverse pre-diabetes and prevent progression to diabetes.

This initiative emphasised the need for sustainable, evidence-based strategies to combat obesity in women before and during pregnancy.
