Hi there, I'm Rewena, and I'm a lifestyle medicine physician, surgeon and mum and I‚'m passionate about empowering patients to reach their true health and wellness potential. I completed my undergraduate studies in science (majoring in physiology and physics) followed by Medical school at Sydney University from which I graduated in 2008. I undertook my prevocational training as a junior doctor at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and then completed the rigorous general surgical training program, qualifying as a specialist surgeon and fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2015. My twin boys were born in 2016 and I furthered my speciality interest in breast surgery through completion of the 2 year Sydney University Graduate Certificate Program, and have been working busily in private practice since 2018. Throughout my career I have been convinced that there is more to medicine than our traditional western approach treat symptoms without addressing their underlying root cause. I found my way to lifestyle medicine through my own health journey - after becoming a mum I (like so many others) found it hard to balance a good lifestyle with career and family obligations. I felt tired and depleted, was out of shape and had aching joints and high cholesterol. In 2019 I made the switch to a whole-food plant based diet and slowly embraced the pillars of lifestyle medicine. Within months I felt re-invigorated - I was fit and strong, sleeping well, coping much better with stress and my cholesterol had normalised! The more I learned about the amazing evidence based approach of utilising lifestyle modification to optimise health, the more passionate I grew and I founded Revital wellbeing medicine to reach patients in need of help. I am privileged to be able to work as a surgical specialist and a lifestyle medicine specialist and to combine my passions and training to truly change lives.
