Richards interests include integrative nutritional environmental approaches to chronic illness, musculoskeletal medicine, manual therapy using visceral/organ craniosacral, functional, fascial muscle energy technique, prolotherapy and, neural therapy for scars. He has extensive experience in IV nutrients.
Richard grew up on a sheep, wheat and cattle farm in North-West, NSW. After completing his education in Moss Vale and boarding school in Armidale, he moved to Sydney, where he completed a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in anatomy and physiology at the University of NSW. An additional honours research year in physiology was the opportunity to co-author three medical journal publications.
Richard then moved to Melbourne RMIT studying Osteopathy, which he practised back in Sydney and Port Stephens, where he started his own osteopathic clinic. From 1996 to 2000, he also studied medicine at Newcastle University. Richard did his internship / residency in John Hunter, Royal Newcastle, Mater, Belmont and James fletcher hospitals getting broad experience with rotations in accident and emergency, anaesthetics, cardiology, paediatrics, psychiatry, general medicine, orthopaedics, rheumatology, general surgery.
After completing a post graduate diploma in acupuncture through the Chinese medicine school RMIT, Richard moved to Melbourne to teach, setting up a medical diagnosis subject for osteopathic students in a problem based/solving model. He was nominated for a teaching prize by his students for this year.
Richard moved back to Sydney in 2005 to set up Levity Health, an integrative medicine private practice working with other like-minded practitioners in Bondi junction from 2005 to 2020. During that time Richard gained his fellowship with the Australasian College of Nutritional and Environmental medicine (FACNEM) as well as a Masters in Advanced Medicine (musculoskeletal) from Macquarie University (2014). Richard also worked at the Grove, another integrative practice in Bondi Junction prior to joining Next Practice GenBiome.
Richard enjoys his continuing education through the rural college of GPs ACRRM and osteopathic institutes such as Barral (visceral/organ, structural), Upledger (craniosacral) and Chikly (lymphatic).
Richard is dual AHPRA registered with the Medical and Osteopathic boards.
