Richard Newton
About
Dr. Richard is an experienced General Practitioner who earned his medical degree from Southampton University in 1991 and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. His diverse career spans roles as a Royal Navy Medical Officer, including active service during the Bosnian Conflict, and work with the Royal Marines and in Cardiology before turning to General Practice.
In search of new challenges, Dr. Richard moved with his family to King Island, Tasmania, after responding to an opportunity in Australia. They later made Australia their permanent home. After five years of rural practice and a period in Perth working across various settings, including the mining industry, he and his wife established their own medical practice in 2015.
Dr. Richard emphasises informed patient choice, long-term doctor-patient relationships, and a collaborative approach to care. With a strong foundation in Western medicine, he remains open to integrating broader perspectives, ensuring his patients receive the most comprehensive and personalised care possible.
