Dr. Marie Anderson

As a Clinical & Health Psychologist, I am trained under the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) model. I have an interest in the natural therapies, take a holistic view of emotional wellbeing, and I have an integrated eclectic therapeutic style. I have a degree in the Behavioural Sciences (Psychology) with Honours and I completed my Doctor of Health Psychology in 2012 at La Trobe University. I am a Fellow Member of the Australian Psychological Society‚'s Clinical and Health Colleges, and I am a registered Psychologist with A.P.H.P.R.A. I have a long history in human resources, training, occupational rehabilitation, and health psychology at a leading general hospital. My doctoral thesis explored the use of motivational strategies to support effective health behaviour change. I also completed additional training through Deakin University to provide Clinical Psychology Services. I have been in private practice since 2004 and I draw on evidence-based strategies to treat a range of emotional imbalances, including helping clients to change their unhealthy habits and self-defeating behaviours. The work I do with clients is to inspire them to grow their potential and live a meaningful, balanced life. I educate and provide strategies to help them challenge their self-limiting beliefs, nurture their strengths, and learn to live by their principal values. In doing so, I help clients to bridge the gap between where they are and where they want to be. In collaborating with my clients to achieve a balanced sense of self, we work towards attaining a healthy mind and a healthy body. We also explore what‚'s possible in realising a purposeful, fully self-expressed life.
