Dr Ruwangi Malvenna
About
Dr. Ruwangi is a consultant psychiatrist with over 19 years of clinical experience, spanning both the public and private sectors. She has served as a consultant psychiatrist at numerous public hospitals, including Mercy Health, Northwestern Mental Health, Northern Health, and South West Health Service, where she also held the role of an authorised psychiatrist. Her commitment to academic psychiatry is evident through her recent position as a Senior Lecturer at the Deakin University Medical School, where she completed a dissertation on adult ADHD in 2010, reflecting her deep interest in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of ADHD.
Dr. Ruwangi’s primary areas of focus include ADHD, anxiety and mood disorders, women’s mental health, eating disorders, youth mental health, trauma-related disorders, and psychosis. She values collaboration with general practitioners and the families of her patients to ensure a comprehensive and integrated approach to care. Believing in a balanced treatment approach, she combines biological therapies, such as medication, with psychosocial interventions to optimise patient outcomes and promote recovery.
