Dr Joel Killey
About
Dr. Joel Killey, who grew up in rural New South Wales and now resides in Sydney, brings a wide range of clinical experience to his role at the ADHD-BED integrated clinic. His career has spanned diverse locations, from regional areas of New South Wales to remote parts of Western Australia, and includes serving as Director of an intensive psychiatric inpatient unit in Sydney, where he managed complex mental health conditions.
Dr. Killey’s academic journey is equally diverse, with qualifications in Agriculture, Medicine, and Health Administration. He earned his medical degree from the University of Notre Dame Australia and later completed a Master's in Health Administration at Monash University. His unique blend of agricultural and psychiatric expertise inspired research in horticultural therapy, which won him the Connell Werry Prize from the Faculty of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in 2018. Additionally, he serves on the New South Wales Committee for the RANZCP Faculty of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
In his practice, Dr. Killey focuses on a family-centered approach, treating a broad range of conditions including ADHD, mood and anxiety disorders, eating disorders, and First Episode Psychosis. He is particularly passionate about integrating horticultural therapy, supporting rural communities, and exploring the intersection of neurodiversity and mental health.
