Dr Leticia Deveza

Dr. Leticia Deveza is a rheumatologist and Fellow of the RACP, currently serving as a lecturer and postdoctoral fellow at the University of Sydney. She completed her PhD in 2019 and remains actively involved in research and teaching medical students. He earned his medical degree with Honours from the University of Newcastle, completed rheumatology training in Sydney, and obtained a PhD in MRI for Rheumatoid arthritis in 2005. Dr Bird has held specialist roles at major hospitals and managed a rural rheumatology clinic. He is committed to medical education and is the Medical Director of Emeritus Clinical Research Sydney, leading trials on advanced rheumatology treatments. As a member of the OPAL group, Dr Bird focuses on improving rheumatology care through research. He is internationally recognised for his expertise in rheumatic disease and imaging, currently chairs the International Magnetic Resonance Imaging Research Association, and actively contributes to global rheumatology research and education.

Tien Tay

Dr Tien Tay is a dedicated rheumatologist committed to providing high-quality care for patients with rheumatic diseases. He has expertise in all aspects of rheumatic conditions, with a special interest in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and systemic vasculitis, including Giant cell arteritis and Polymyalgia Rheumatica. Dr Tien graduated from the University of Sydney, completed his physician training in Sydney, and specialised in Rheumatology in Melbourne, including a fellowship in scleroderma. He is involved in the International Scleroderma Clinical Trials Consortium and has presented his work at both local and international conferences. In Melbourne, Dr Tien has served as a consultant in an Arthritis and Biologic Clinic for inflammatory arthritis and an Osteoarthritis Hip and Knee Clinic. He also conducted a NHMRC-sponsored study comparing synovial fluid in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. Dr Tien is an excellent communicator, fluent in both English and Mandarin.

A Prof Fred Joshua

A/Prof Fred Joshua is a dedicated physician specialising in the treatment of rheumatic diseases, with expertise in rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and psoriatic arthritis. He completed a PhD focused on the use of ultrasound in rheumatoid arthritis and has presented research internationally. A/Prof Joshua pioneered rheumatological ultrasound in Australia and helped develop a degree for rheumatologists through the Australian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine, where he is President Elect. He has extensive experience teaching medical students and junior doctors, having previously been awarded the Prince of Wales Clinical School Teacher of the Year. Currently, he is involved in developing the undergraduate medical programme at Macquarie University, where he serves as A/Professor of Medicine and Rheumatology Clinical Discipline Head. A/Prof Joshua is committed to patient care, ensuring patients understand their conditions so they can work together to find solutions.
