The Mid North Coast Division of General Practice (MNCDGP) is dedicated to advancing general practice by supporting the professional and educational development of general practitioners and undergraduates. It seeks to enhance collaboration and integration between general practice and other healthcare sectors, enabling general practitioners to actively contribute to local health planning. A key focus of the Division is promoting illness prevention and health promotion activities, ensuring that general practice plays a proactive role in improving community health outcomes.
The MNCDGP prioritises improving access to appropriate healthcare services, reducing duplication, and addressing the unique health needs of diverse populations, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, individuals from non-English-speaking backgrounds, and those with chronic conditions. The Division also provides a platform for general practitioners to engage in health policy decision-making and supports initiatives such as accreditation, peer review, and training programs to enhance the quality of service delivery.
By fostering these improvements, the MNCDGP aims to enhance the cost-effectiveness of healthcare delivery, ensuring efficient use of Commonwealth funding while meeting local health needs.
At its core, the MNCDGP is guided by its values as a primary care organisation that partners with general practice and the local community to achieve better primary health outcomes. Its mission is to support general practitioners in their role as primary healthcare providers for the Mid North Coast community. Through collaboration with other organisations, the Division advocates for and facilitates the delivery of comprehensive primary healthcare to the community.
